Spreading Homeopathy Around the World

Last updated on July 21st, 2022 at 02:37 pm

In today’s guest blog post, Holly Manoogian, executive director of Homeopaths Without Borders (HWB), shares how the organization is helping improve health care in Haiti with homeopathy. She has worked with HWB since 2011 and is certified in classical homeopathy. Holly has also completed clinical training in Mumbai, India.

HWB Clinical Director Lauren Fox, FNP, shows Israel Joseph, a nurse practitioner and midwife at Mombin Crochu Hospital, how to use a Blue Tube.

Homeopaths Without Borders (HWB) has led 24 service trips to Haiti since 2010. HWB has provided free health care services to thousands of patients with the help of volunteer homeopaths, donors and homeopathic organizations and companies.

HWB continues its work to improve health care delivery in Haiti through many initiatives. In 2012, HWB staff taught the first Fundamentals of Homeopathy course. And, in an effort to address the high maternal and neonatal death rates, HWB launched the Fundamentals of Homeopathy for Birth Attendants course in 2013.

Homeopaths Without Borders is working hard to build partnerships with key Haitian health care and community leaders to successfully integrate homeopathic medicines into their health care system. In this effort, HWB helped establish a Haitian professional homeopathic association, known as Organisation de Médecine Homéopathique et Alternative d’Haïti (OMHAH). OMHAH partners with local community organizations and continuing education programs to provide homeopathic health care through mobile clinics.

HWB is also working with the Ministry of Health (MSPP) to help integrate homeopathic education and training into Haitian health care practices. HWB will work with the Association Médicale Haïtienne (AHM) now through next year to teach a 90-hour homeopathic training course for medical professionals. Participants will receive manuals and homeopathic dispensing kits.

In early 2017, HWB will launch its Fundamentals of Homeopathy for Birth Attendants course at Mombin Crochu Hospital. Mombin Crochu is the only health care facility for the more than 40,000 people who live in the remote hills of the interior. HWB volunteer teams will also work with hospital health workers to organize mobile clinics to serve people in the outlying villages, who are unable to access the hospital.
