If you missed Monday’s episode of “The Doctors” on “New Procedures to Improve Your Body,” you missed a great TV moment for Boiron’s Arnica medicines! In the segment, “How to Best Treat Bruises,” plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Drew Ordon recommends using Arnica to treat unsightly bruises, especially after surgery. Boiron’s Arnica montana 6C oral pellets and Arnicare Gel are prominently featured on-screen.
Dr. Ordon said he discovered Arnica back in the 1980s through a patient, who experienced a “ton” of bruising after a face-lift procedure. “She comes back two or three days later and I go, ‘This is impossible. How do you look so much better that quickly?’ And she said, ‘Arnica.’ At that point, I’d never heard of it. It does work.” He adds that he “gives it to all of [his] post-surgical patients now for bruising.”
Arnica, a mountain plant from the daisy family, is one of the most popular homeopathic medicines in the world. Boiron offers Arnica through its Arnicare line that includes gel, cream and ointment. Arnicare can provide localized relief of muscles aches and stiffness, and swelling and discoloration from bruises. These topicals can be paired up with Boiron’s Arnica oral pellets for a safe, natural solution to pain relief. Arnica does not interact with conventional medications or herbal remedies, allowing patients to complement other treatments. It is also not contraindicated with pre-existing conditions, making it safe for high-risk patients with heart disease or liver problems.
Dr. Ordon has private practices in Beverly Hills and Rancho Mirage, Calif. He is also the Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at Dartmouth Medical College and the UCLA School of Medicine, and has written two books, “Revealing the New You: A Guide to Plastic Surgery” and “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Plastic Surgery.”
“The Doctors” is a daily one-hour daytime talk show on CBS featuring four renowned physicians with different medical specialties that offer information on various health topics. Along with Dr. Ordon, the show stars E.R. physician Dr. Travis Stork, OB/GYN Dr. Lisa Masterson, and pediatrician Dr. Jim Sears.
