Winter has its charm, but let’s face it — dry skin isn’t part of the magic. As the frosty air takes a toll on our skin, leaving it dry, cracked, and irritated, we may find ourselves daydreaming of the beautiful marigold flowers that can bring relief, Calendula officinalis.
With a single active ingredient made from this garden marigold, the Boiron line of Calendula first aid topicals relieve skin irritations, such as dry and chapped skin, chafing, and windburn.*
Nature’s “power flower” is now enjoying a moment in the sun. Back in July, actress and environmental activist Amy Smart traveled to Saint-Julien-en-Quint, a rural village in the south of France, for a close-up look at this blooming beauty. Smart was accompanied by her husband and TV personality Carter Oosterhouse, Giles Marini, a fellow actor and co-star in the upcoming movie “Blunt,” and a group of press led by eco-lifestyle guru and magazine publisher Danny Seo. Their first stop was an organic calendula farm, where she learned more about the fresh-picked flower and its vital role as key ingredient in Boiron’s Calendula topicals.

Then it was on to Messimy, the home of Boiron’s global headquarters, for an in-depth look at our eco-friendly approach to health and manufacturing. Smart and her crew got an exclusive peek inside our laboratories and modern manufacturing facilities where quality is first and foremost. Then it was a quick visit to the pasture where sheep freely graze on Boiron’s expansive campus. These educational experiences and more are captured in the feature story of the 2024 Winter Issue of “Naturally, Danny Seo” magazine. What ingredients, including the names of plants are used in Histaminum. I’ve been using it for 3 years, every single day, two times a day and I really would like to know what I am putting in my body. Is it a placebo? Am I safe or is there a build up of ingredients in my body that might be of concern? I have had Lymphoma but Im currently in remission. Please assure me that your medicine is completely safe and reveal the contents. My doctor had no idea what to make of it?
Hi Deborah,
Histaminum hydrochloricum is a homeopathic medicine prepared from synthetic Histamine dihydrochloride. This substance comes in two forms: an odorless hygroscopic (absorbing moisture from the air), colorless crystal or a whitish crystalline powder.
Homeopathy is a therapeutic method that uses highly diluted natural substances to relieve symptoms. The active ingredients in homeopathic medicines are diluted plants, animals, and minerals that relieve the same symptoms they cause as full strength, (i.e., a micro dose of coffee bean helps to relieve nervousness).
Homeopathic medicines have been used for more than 200 years, building a remarkable safety record. They are manufactured in strict accordance with the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS) and drug Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Today, homeopathic medicines are used by millions of patients and recommended by health care professionals around the world to relieve many acute health conditions such as allergies, coughs, colds, flu, stress, muscle pain, and teething.
There is no reason to believe that homeopathic medicines are metabolized differently than the raw material used to make them. However, the dose-dependent effects of homeopathic medicines, including pharmacokinetics and pharmacology, have not been fully elucidated. Their use is based on long-standing tradition and experience. Additionally, there is no reason to suspect accumulation in the body or other health risks considering their dilution levels and the knowledge gathered from extensive traditional use.
However, we recommend that if your symptoms persist for more than 3 days or worsen, you should stop use and ask a doctor. If you plan to use the medicine for a longer period of time, please consult with your health care professional.
Thanks!
If I get relief in taking this allergy medicine everyday, shouldn’t I continue? Will it harm me? Will my allergies eventually diminish for good?
Hi Jan,
The duration of use is listed on the product label. For single medicines, the length of use is 3 days. We recommend that you consult with your health care professional on any medicine that you intend to take for a longer period of time. The duration of administration is based on the maximum time during which it is safe for one to self-treat without the advice of a health care professional.
