Dr. Vincent Pedre Shares His Top Natural Treatments for Seasonal Allergies

Last updated on August 9th, 2022 at 11:28 am

Allergies affect more than 50 million Americans every year, yet the usual treatment approaches to relieve allergy symptoms tend to leave people dissatisfied. Antihistamines can cause drowsiness, while decongestants can have rebound effects. Parents of young children suffering from allergy symptoms are especially limited in options now that medications with these ingredients have been re-labeled for children four years of age and above. Other options can be expensive, inconvenient or not safe for long-term use.

In a recent blog post, Dr. Vincent Pedre, M.D., an integrative, holistic general practitioner and board-certified internist in New York City, talks about his search for the “best natural remedies” to treat spring allergies.

“If you are an allergy sufferer, you know that spring, with its burst of colors, rings in the season of itchy, watery eyes, sneezing, nasal congestion and postnasal drip. [And] in the worst of cases, spring allergies will turn into a sinus infection,” says Dr. Pedre. “However, if you attend to the symptoms early on, or better yet, prevent them, you can ward off these consequences.”

To help relieve pesky allergy symptoms, Dr. Pedre shares his top eight natural remedies, including changes in diet, neti-potting, steaming and acupuncture. Also included in his list are two Boiron medicines: Sabadil and Optique 1. Sabadil is “medicine without side effects,” says Dr. Pedre. “It’s nice to have a blended product, like Sabadil, that addresses a variety of allergy-related symptoms.” And Optique 1 eye drops offer “relief for dry, itchy, burning red eyes without the rebound effect of all those vasoconstrictors or astringents that only provide temporary relief.”
